Wednesday, Nov 1 - Checking out the Neighborhood

The photo below is a great example of the natural vegetation in the Taos area - sage and junipers. The house behind me in the photo to the right is a "typical" non-adobe home in Taos.

The photo middle right is the end of the road off which the Murray home is located. This is said to be "government" land - and the sign posted says that it's used for and by the U.S. Forest Services. But oddly, until recently this road was available for hiking - now the "NO TRESPASSING" sign is prominently displayed. Below that photo, check out the white adobe estate at the top of the hill - 10,000 sq ft of home sitting high atop Taos - quite a steep climb up the road leading to their private drive, too!

Finally, the bottom photo is of me standing in front of a local, quaint, well tended and colorful burial site. Beautiful names and statements on the headstones, some being very old. This is on Piedmont, the main road back to the Murray home.
